Lewis, the King Ranch spans six counties in Texas. The ranch is not on one plot of land but four large ones that are called divisions. These divisions are named: Santa Gertrudis, Norias, Laureles, and Encino. If you find a that a ranch is not your style, many of the state parks in Texas offer fun experiences such as guided trail horseback riding from a beginner to an expert.

Another great adventure for the tourist looking for an authentic Texas experience is stock shows. These shows captivate their audiences with their cattle and horse showmanship. Many of the fan favorite rodeos are also present at these shows. With the theme of the old west, you can take a step back in time with the Chisholm Trail, depicting a tale of old western history complete with cowboys, cattle, and ranches.

Texas has one of the richest histories in the world. Becoming the 28th U.S. State in the year 1845, Texas has about 13,000 historical landmarks. One of these beautifully constructed landmarks is the Mission San Antonio de Valero, also known as The Alamo. The barracks and chapel from the original fort contain relics and keepsake in remembrance of the fall of Alamo. You can visit this breathtaking landmark is open to the public seven days a week from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
